Today in India there is no shortage of talent. The Indian students are finding the height of glory in almost every field of life like finance, engineering, medical, etc. we have made place for our self not only in India but in the entire world. Many large foreign business establishments are booming just because they have Indian students working with them.
But one of the major drawbacks which I can see in the study pattern of our society is that here the system study is more theoretical rather than being practical. These structures of study not only create problems for students when they enter into their commercial life but also create hurdles for various bright students. In our society the students from the very childhood are forced to score good marks and become a doctor or an engineer, etc. by their parents, in the later part of their life they encounter with a competitive world which again force them to mug up the answers to score good marks in their exams. This is not the fault of the students; it’s the education body which is responsible for this. The structure of study doesn’t allow the students to gain any practical knowledge. This makes the students a bookworm and keeps them unaware of the practical business world.
In most of the colleges the syllabus have not changed since 1960 (although the autonomous colleges have taken a few step forward) which reflect in nature of the students. These someway or the other create a waste of talent because the students are unaware about how they have to implement their theoretical knowledge in the outer world. A student might have good knowledge but if he can’t express that knowledge or if he can’t co-ordinate then his knowledge is of no use.
Now again the question arises that how can the education body make the study more life oriented. Although I am no one to give advice to the education body but being a student the things which I thing should be changed are –
1.There should be good interaction between teachers and students.
2.Students should be provided with practical examples along with that of theoretical one
3.There should be debate among the students on current topics this will lead them to express their views.
4.Students should not only attached with the books they should allow to participate in sports and other activities also
5.There should be program’s which welcomes student’s innovative ideas.
Students should provide with industrial visits.
6.Students should be provided with advance technology which will help them to enhance their knowledge.
It is not that the education bodies are unaware of this fact they have taken few steps like they have started converting the colleges into an Autonomous college (there is a target of converting 10% of the colleges by the end of 11th plan) which will provide freedom to the college authority to take various decision.
If India is moving on the path of global power they have to think beyond their imagination

GROWTH OF INDIAN RAILWAY – A REALITY OR A VAGUE
Indian railway (IR) which is a department of Government of India has owned a monopoly in India. It is the second largest rail network in the world, transporting eighteen millions passengers daily. IR is the world largest commercial or utility employer.
Although IR is an important resource for India but it was running in heavy loss from past few years it was almost bankrupt. It use to show a deficit budget every year. This was all due to the malpractices which run into the system at its extreme. This all suddenly came to an end when Mr. LALU PRASAD YADAV was elected as the railway minister. The railway suddenly turned out to be a profit making sector and started contributing to the govt. treasury.
Now the question which arises in our mind is that suddenly what he did that one of the burden of goverment resourse turned out to be a profit making?
The answer is not difficult to judge. He did nothing different what he did was he did thing differently – in the words of SHIV KHERA
“Winner’s don’t do different things they do things differently “- YOU CAN WIN
It was not that he ignored the poor sector and started increasing the fairs. He took both the rich and poor class people into consideration and took appropriate measures. He knew that if in order to fulfill the loss he raised the fairs the public will be disappointed. So what he did he took certain measures like-
1) He turned most number of trains into fast passengers but the time which it covers was not more than 30min. This added an extra fair to the passenger
2) He introduced a side birth system in which instead of two there will be three side births. Although it in highly inconvenient but in increased the revenue.
3) Previously in case of Tatkal tickets there was no place of waiting list and limited tickets were introduced but now even in Tatkal tickets can be booked before time
4) He removed the malpractices which was use to run in the stalls of railway platforms.
5) He increased the booking period from 2 months to 3 months.
6) Currently one of the good steps was that he gave the charge of Rajdhani express to private companies like Airtel, etc. which will give railway huge revenue and the public will get receive better services.
7) He also made the fair charges absolutely free for the boys up to class 12 and for girls till college.
Some people think that the step which he took was unfair to raise the revenue because it is misleading the people. But what I think that he did not raise the fairs for poor people and if the upper middle class and higher class people have to pay an extra few bugs its nothing wrong in it. He had a quality of a complete manager, although his style of work is quite different from that of others ultimately what matters is result and he had that. It was due to his this quality that he was invited as a guest lecturer in IIM AHMEDABAD (the best management institute) to share his idea’s and experiences.
Not only this he used they surplus revenue in the development of railways he developed new railways track where the need was urgent, woman’s were provided with better security in the local trains, etc. thus we can say that growth of railway has is a reality.

QUOTA SYSTEM IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION
Every year large number of students give their exams with full concentration and hard labor so that they can score good marks and can get admission in good colleges (like SRCC, Xavier’s, etc) easily but all this end up in vain when a system of our education (Quota system) act as a hurdle in their path. Every year a bunch of students fail to take admission in this college’s because their seats are given either to schedule cast people or people belonging to some other groups.
In almost every college’s near about 40% seats are reserved in different quotas like schedule cast, brother quota, sports quota, religion quota, etc. I am not saying that this sectors should be ignored, if our country want to be a global power that it is very much necessary to help this sector’s but when it comes in the field of education than it should not be customary to reserve the seats for them. This sector’s can be given priority in taking admission because they don’t have much facilities but reserving seats for them is like spoiling the career of a bright student.
Being a student I can say that it affects a mental state of a student very hard when inspite of putting very hard labor to get admission in a reputed college he fails just because the seats were reserved. I myself have seen some of friends who deserve to get admission in ST. Xavier’s college failed because of the unfair system of education. I myself was a bit shocked when I entered the very first day in my college (ST. Xavier’s college) that there are students who have scored near about 50-60% and my few friends who were just 2-3 marks short fro the cutoff are nowhere.
This is not just an article or a blog but it’s the practical truth which has its own reality.

INFLATION
Today Inflation is a topic with which every single person of the country is aware. In the past very few people used to know what inflation is and what is inflation rate, those who know was also the learned people. But at present even a school going boy can be found saying- “last week’s inflation rate was 12.44% govt. must do something”.
Although our country is kissing the double digit growth mark the inflation rate has already crossed it. Thus the impact of that growth has compressed due to the growing inflation rate. Although the middle class, upper middle class, and higher class people does not experience the impact of inflation to such a great extent but those people who earns a fixed amount of remuneration everyday for them the impact of inflation is drastic. Because although the prices of commodities are going high but the money which they are receiving in the form of wages are still the same as a result large numbers of people are forced to commit suicide. This is a matter of great shame that a country who has a prime minister as one of the renowned economist has to face this kind of situation. If this trend of rising inflation continues than their will be a list of problems which our nation has to encounter with in the near future.
Government has also taken large number of steps on his part like the reserve bank of India has raised Repo rate by 50 basis point from the 9% from the existing 8.5% . This short term rate at which the RBI lends cash to bank was last raised on 24 June by 50 basis points to 8.5 %. The move is directed at cooling inflation that is running nearly 12% on an annual basis by containing demand.
The central bank has also raised the CRR (percentage of bank deposit which they must keep with central bank) by 25 basis point from the existing 8.75%. This will come into effect from August 30.
The reverse Repo rate (the short term rate at which the central bank absorbs cash from the market) remains unchanged at 6%. It has also raised the bank rate(rates used to price long term loans to firms and individual) steady at 6%.
In his recent interview R.B.I governor Y.V. Reddy said that they try to restrict the growth rate at about 8 and the inflation rate at about 5% by the end of this year, because growth of a country can not be done at the cost of common people.
